Stating that he was misunderstood, Maximin said, "I see that things are getting out of hand on Twitter, let me explain what I said. In my statement, I am talking about people around the club."

According to the translation by Nafi Alpay, Maximin stated that he was subjected to threats, saying, "The reason Fenerbahçe could not become champion was that the club's environment was surrounded by non-football factors.
