Metehan Baltacı: It is not related to the matches of the teams I play for

Galatasaray footballer Metehan Baltacı has made a statement regarding his inclusion among the names identified as having placed bets as part of the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) betting investigation.

The 23-year-old footballer used the following expressions in a post on his social media account:

"I would like to inform the public correctly regarding my name appearing in a disciplinary process conducted by the Turkish Football Federation. Until today, I have always strived to exist on the pitch with my effort, determination, and struggle.

I have endeavored to act with a sense of responsibility towards every club I have played for and their fans. Years ago, I engaged in a betting transaction without fully grasping the seriousness of the matter.

Afterwards, thinking that it would not befit the stance of an athlete, I ended this situation. I would like to state that this transaction was not related to the matches of the teams I play for.

I am an athlete who trusts in the justice of football, and I believe that this truth will emerge as soon as possible. I am very saddened that my name has come to the agenda with such a subject.

I would especially like to state that I promise before the entire football public that I will act more carefully in every area of my life from this day forward."
