Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk made important statements following the Hatayspor match.
Metin Öztürk said, "Before commenting on the match, today was a very important game. We saw the match we played against Hatay as more than just a game. No one should forget Hatay. All major clubs need to continue their support. We see this as more than just a match. While coming here, our president Dursun, one of our former presidents Adnan Polat, and Mr. Erden Timur were at the opening of a container city in Hatay. Then they held the opening of a youth center. These are the issues we should be talking about more than the match."
"WE WERE DENIED 2 CLEAR PENALTIES"
Stating that they were denied 2 penalties in the match, Öztürk said, "Coming to the match, we could not display the football we desired today. We lost after a long streak. But there is one very clear thing: we were denied 2 clear penalties. We watched the foul on Barış Alper Yılmaz in the 81st minute repeatedly; it is a penalty. The foul on Icardi in the 90+6th minute is a clear penalty. Then why does VAR exist? They should just remove it. Then let us continue with the mercy and good intentions of the referee. We did not show the performance we wanted today. But 2 penalties that would have affected the result were not given. We will continue where we left off after the international break. Do not forget Hatay, do not forget to support this place," he remarked.
When asked for his opinion on foreign referees, Metin Öztürk said, "This is a topic to be discussed among presidents, in the Union of Clubs, and at the federation. It is not a matter within my jurisdiction. Today, we were denied 2 clear penalties. We love Hatay just as we love every geography of Turkey; please do not withdraw your hands from here, continue your support," he concluded.
