Milan Skriniar, a key figure in the Fenerbahçe defense, made statements ahead of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round match against Sturm Graz.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Fenerbahçe Can Bartu Facilities, the Slovak center-back said that playing the first leg at home could create an advantage for the yellow-navy blues. Skriniar stated that they respect their opponent but will take the pitch with the goal of winning.
Emphasizing the importance of the match for the team, the fans, and the club, Skriniar said, “We know how important this match is for us, the fans, and the club. Playing the first leg at home in front of our fans will be an advantage. We want to win tomorrow's match. We respect our opponent, but we want to show our quality and experience at home. We want to get an advantageous score together before the second leg.”
Skriniar also spoke highly of Nathan Ake, with whom he plays in defense. Stating that Ake's performance was no surprise to him, the experienced footballer drew attention to his contribution to the team.
The Slovak player said, “Ake's performance did not surprise me. I know what a wonderful player he is. He is a very professional and experienced name. He helps not only me but the whole team. Playing with him makes me feel good.”
