MKE Ankaragücü fans stated that they stand behind Faruk Koca, who resigned from his post as club president after punching referee Halil Umut Meler.
Gathering in front of the Beştepe Facilities, the fans chanted, "In good times and bad, we are all together, we are Ankaragücü," and "Emperor Faruk Koca."
In a joint statement, fan groups argued that even clubs that have complained about the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) management and refereeing errors have attacked Koca on social media, stating, "Our president, against referees who use their whistles like weapons, fought to the end for the rights of our club and community, and even if the limits of moderation were exceeded, in our eyes, he showed his reaction, though we never wished for such an event to occur. We hope this incident will be a milestone in our football history and that all communities whose rights have been violated will not allow the TFF and the Central Referee Board (MHK) to try to whitewash their own faults through our president Faruk Koca. As Ankaragücü fans, we declare to the public that we will stand behind our president and our crest."
It was learned that Ankaragücü fans will begin a sit-in protest at the Tandoğan Facilities starting tomorrow.
