CHP MP Mustafa Sarıgül has proposed that Ergin Ataman, who won the EuroLeague championship with the Greek team Panathinaikos, be awarded the State Medal of Distinguished Service.

CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül proposed that the State Medal of Distinguished Service be awarded to head coach Ergin Ataman, who won his 6th European title in his career with the Panathinaikos team that reached the championship in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, stating, "Our esteemed Coach Ataman, who has achieved his sixth European championship with 5 different teams, deserves the State Medal of Distinguished Service. I am calling out to our President; my Coach Ergin Ataman has more than earned the State Medal of Distinguished Service."
