National team defeated by last-minute goal

The first half of the friendly match played by the Turkish National Football Team away against Poland ended with a 1-0 lead for the host team.

Poland took the lead in the 12th minute. Lewandowski intercepted a ball poorly headed down by Samet in the penalty area and passed it to the unmarked Swiderski. Swiderski sent the ball into the net with an inside-foot finish from close range: 1-0.

In the 19th minute, the national team came close to an equalizer. Kerem, moving onto a pass sent behind the defense by Hakan, entered the penalty area. Kerem's shot from the right diagonal was saved by goalkeeper Szczesny.

In the 25th minute, the Crescent-Stars threatened once again. Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who met the ball in the penalty area after a pass from İrfan, fired a powerful shot from the right diagonal that went wide of the far post.

In the 90th minute, Zalewski, who stole the ball from Merih Demiral in defense, cut inside from the left wing, entered the penalty area, and fired a shot that found the net to the right of goalkeeper Mert. 2-1

Having secured their ticket to EURO 2024 as group leaders after a draw away against Wales in the final European Championship qualifying match, Turkey lost 1-0 to Hungary and 6-1 to Austria in friendly matches played in March. Turkey drew 0-0 away against Italy on June 4.
