Nemanja Bjelica named new Sporting Director of Bahçeşehir Koleji

Bahçeşehir Koleji, one of the teams in the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League, has announced that Nemanja Bjelica has been appointed as Sporting Director for the 2024-2025 season.

Turkish Basketball Super League and FIBA Europe Cup representative Bahçeşehir Koleji has appointed a familiar name to the position of Sporting Director. Bahçeşehir Koleji has officially announced that Nemanja Bjelica, who recently ended his professional basketball career, will join the management team as Sporting Director.

Bahçeşehir Koleji Basketball Club President Begüm Yücel made the following statements regarding the matter:

“Nemanja Bjelica proved his worth many times over during his playing career with his successes in both European basketball and the NBA. It is exciting for us to know that such an important name, who is familiar with our country and Turkish basketball and follows our league closely, will now work for the success of our team. I believe that the basketball culture he will bring, along with his vision and keen interest in our goals, will make long-term contributions to both our team and the country's basketball, and that this move will increase the brand value of our league.”

WHO IS NEMANJA BJELICA?

Nemanja Bjelica, who found his first high-level playing opportunity in Europe with Crvena zvezda, was selected 35th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards due to his performance there. Before starting his NBA career, the Serbian played for Baskonia and finally Fenerbahçe. During his impressive season with the yellow-navy team, he played a major role in his team reaching the EuroLeague Final Four and was named the EuroLeague regular season MVP (2015). Heading to the NBA by signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2015, Bjelica signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2021 after competing for the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat. Successfully completing the 2021-2022 season with the Warriors, Bjelica celebrated an NBA Championship with his team.
