Discussions regarding broadcasting revenues and the broadcaster in the Trendyol Süper Lig have returned to the agenda ahead of the new season. It has been claimed that clubs are aiming for higher revenue in the broadcasting tender expected to be held next year, and that the possibility of a change in the current broadcasting arrangement is strengthening.
Hürriyet Newspaper Sports Director Mehmet Arslan stated in his assessment on the Libre Sports YouTube channel that the Union of Clubs has prepared a comprehensive report for the new tender process. According to Arslan, the report indicates that the value of the broadcasting tender is over 400 million dollars.
Arslan stated that not only traditional broadcasters but also mobile operators and digital platforms might show interest in the tender. This situation is considered likely to increase competition in the race for Süper Lig broadcasting rights.
''The prepared report states that the value of the broadcasting tender is over 400 million dollars. It is stated that mobile operators are also showing great interest in this tender. It is also noted that digital platforms may enter the tender.''
Stating that clubs have serious complaints about the current broadcaster and especially regarding broadcast quality, Arslan conveyed that the goal for the new period is to increase broadcasting revenue from approximately 150 million dollars to the 500 million dollar level.
Arslan also made a "90 percent" assessment regarding the possibility of the current broadcaster changing. How the official process and specifications for the broadcasting tender will take shape will become clear in the coming period.
