In the details of the testimony revealed during the hearing, it was learned that Seçil Erzan told Musa Mert Çetin, “foreigners also have money in the banks,” and used Çetin to transfer the money of Muslera and Podolski into her private fund. Explaining his complaint during the hearing, Çetin stated that Podolski decided against investing the money.
New details have emerged in the fraud case in which Seçil Erzan is being tried. In the 176-page transcribed SEGBİS records of the hearing where Seçil Erzan's defense was taken, the complaint of Galatasaray's former interpreter Musa Mert Çetin was heard.
HE EXPLAINS HOW HE FIRST FELL INTO THE TRAP
Musa Mert Çetin, who is also one of Seçil Erzan's victims, explained in court how he was defrauded by her. Çetin said, “Around the end of October 2022, she said, 'We need to have a meeting,' and I went to meet her. Without knowing the subject, she told me about this international fund, meaning this money was being invested in international markets, not in Turkey, and that everything was legal—because I specifically asked her this several times, emphasizing it—and she said that many famous people were also in it. I gave her 75 thousand dollars. She told me that in 2.5-3 months, I would earn a return of 100 thousand dollars, a gain of 25 thousand dollars. However, I could not get my money back.”
SHE CHECKED THE ACCOUNTS OF FOREIGN PLAYERS
Describing the meetings he had with Seçil Erzan in court, Çetin made significant allegations. Çetin claimed that Seçil Erzan told him, “Don't just keep it to yourself; after all, you have been working in the Galatasaray community for many years. I checked the system, and the foreign players have money.” Explaining that Erzan said she checked the system and saw that Muslera also had money, Çetin continued: “Muslera also has money. Why doesn't Muslera invest his money in such a corporate fund? It's a shame, let his money grow. Bring Muslera too, if there are others, call them and bring them.”
“SHE SAID EVERYTHING WAS OFFICIAL”
Describing the incident, Çetin stated that Muslera also fell into Seçil Erzan's trap, saying, “He came to us with Muslera in this way, meaning that everything would be official. I asked, 'How will it be?' 'Don't worry at all, the bank has something called an ISIN code, you will all have an ISIN code there.'”
PODOLSKI DID NOT JOIN AT THE LAST MINUTE
In court, while explaining his complaints, Musa Mert Çetin shared a previously unknown detail for the first time. Stating that Seçil Erzan checked the accounts of foreign football players playing at Galatasaray and wanted him to bring their money to transfer it to this private fund, Çetin said, “In fact, we went to visit her at the branch in 1. Levent together with Lukas Podolski—he is currently playing in Poland—I don't remember the exact date, I don't want to lie. But since Lukas Podolski was in Poland later, he didn't want to get involved because he said he couldn't really focus on that business and 'I will most likely send my money to Poland.' Thank God he didn't join.”
