New statement from Orkun Kökçü after being dropped from the squad: 'I will return in two weeks to give everything for Benfica!'

Benfica midfielder Orkun Kökçü was left out of the match squad after criticizing his club and manager Roger Schmidt in an unauthorized interview with the Dutch press.

The Turkish footballer made another statement on his social media account following the incident, saying:

"First of all, I want to state that I have great respect for the manager and everyone at the club. In football, all details are important, and I believe that everything must be right for us to be successful. This also means that criticizing and debating each other is important. In recent months, I have also discussed our vision within the club. I accept the decisions the club will make, and I will now join the national team. I will return in two weeks to do my best for Benfica. I will do my best for the fans and this wonderful club. The real Orkun wants only one thing: to win! I am always here to fight for you."
