Following Norway's 2-1 defeat to England in the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals, the competition on the pitch spilled over onto social media. After losing a friendly wager made with British Airways before the match, the Norwegian airline Norwegian Air changed its official Instagram profile picture to the British Airways logo for 24 hours.

According to Reuters, the two airlines had agreed before the match that the company from the losing country would change its Instagram profile image to the logo of the winning country's airline for one day.

In a post following the bet, Norwegian Air stated, "Even though the tournament has ended for us, this friendly bet will live on in our hearts forever."

The company also congratulated England and British Airways, wishing them success in the semi-finals. The message expressed hope that England could bring the trophy home.

With the victory in the quarter-finals, England advanced to the semi-finals. The Three Lions will face defending champions Argentina in Atlanta, USA, next Wednesday.
