In a statement released by the club, it was stated that the decision to terminate the Portuguese coach's contract, which was set to run until 2024, was made following a comprehensive evaluation of the poor results obtained in the recent period.
Nuno Espirito Santo, who began his career at Rio Ave, subsequently managed Valencia, Porto, Wolverhampton, and Tottenham.
Assistant coach Hassan Khalifa will lead the team until a new head coach is appointed.
Al-Ittihad currently sits in 6th place in the Saudi Pro League after 12 weeks, 11 points behind the leader Al-Hilal, who has 32 points.
