Okan Buruk had reacted: Galatasaray complained to Erdoğan about the new rule

Following Galatasaray's 26th league championship, club president Dursun Özbek, head coach Okan Buruk, and executives met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office. During the visit, President Erdoğan congratulated the athletes and the technical staff.

According to reports by Sözcü, during the meeting, the Galatasaray management brought up the financial and administrative difficulties that the 10+4 foreign player rule, which will be implemented next season, would create for the club. Speaking on behalf of the team, Dursun Özbek and Okan Buruk emphasized that the new regulation complicates transfer planning, particularly by increasing costs.

Okan Buruk, in his assessment following the Antalya match played recently, had stated, "The foreign player rule will challenge all clubs. It will especially challenge teams like ours that will play in the Champions League. We want to acquire young players, but you want to acquire young players who are ready for the Champions League. However, it is not easy to bring in ready-made young players. Their costs are high. The new foreign player rule will also financially strain the teams."

According to information received regarding the meetings, the Galatasaray management conveyed their concerns about the rule in question to President Erdoğan in detail twice. Erdoğan listened to the issues raised by the management carefully, took notes, and stated that he would follow the process closely.
