Following the match in the 37th week of last season where they defeated Galatasaray 1-0 away from home, İsmail Kartal had used the phrase "We are the real champions."
Buruk responded to these remarks by Kartal, saying: "You have become the champion, it is over, you are the one going to the Champions League, you are the one receiving the trophy; anything beyond that is absurd, it is funny, that is. You are already the one receiving the trophy. When you receive the trophy, it is clear who the champion is."
