Okan Buruk's statement on Osimhen: Will he leave during the winter break?

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made a statement on the "Futbolun 100’ü" program with Ersin Düzen regarding whether Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen will leave the team during the winter break.

HOW DID THE TRANSFER HAPPEN?

Okan Buruk described Osimhen's transfer with the following words:

“I have video calls with my players on the phone. Sometimes I speak myself; you need to persuade them, and it is best for them to communicate with you. We spoke with George Gardi about the situation. We talked to our transfer committee. I immediately said, let's have a video call, George.

It was before the Adana Demirspor match, I was in the locker room. I wondered how Osimhen would react, I asked myself if it was realistic for him to come here. I clearly saw that he wanted it very much. I told him about Galatasaray and the fans. He said he knew this place very well and that he loved Mertens very much.

He has been following Galatasaray closely. We had a conversation there, and it went very well. He wants to play here, he wants to be here; I clearly got that from him. Then, it was discussed with our president. We continued with our president's approval.

I think this was a very important transfer for Turkish football. It was something that would change the energy for us as well. His arrival was also a motivation for the fans. We also managed to register him for the European squad. It was important that he started well. There is a budget here after all. There are two strikers, and you are signing a third; one must thank the president here. It is an important opportunity for me as well.”

“IF OSIMHEN IS A POSSIBILITY, YOU TAKE IT”

"Icardi's injury was not a factor in the Osimhen transfer. If Osimhen is a possibility, you take him anyway. We have the Fenerbahçe match ahead of us. It is difficult for Icardi to play there, and it crossed my mind at that moment that Osimhen would be very good for us there."

WILL OSIMHEN LEAVE GALATASARAY DURING THE WINTER BREAK?

"Osimhen said, 'I will continue here, that is my intention,' from the moment he arrived. He is very happy here. If he were unhappy, if he were someone saying, 'I came here, why am I here,' it might be different. I don't know the transfer terms. The player's desire is the main thing here. If the player wants it, such a situation could happen. But when the player came here, he had the mindset of, 'I will not leave here, even if there is a clause, I will stay here.'"
