Okan Buruk: We experienced the feeling of 'what if we concede another goal'

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk said after the Gençlerbirliği match, "We didn't give away many chances, but the one goal we conceded made both the players and us on the sidelines feel that if it became 2-2, we might concede another."

In the 30th week of the Trendyol Super League, Galatasaray defeated Gençlerbirliği 2-1 away from home.

Speaking at the press conference held after the match, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk said, "It was a match we absolutely had to win to increase the point gap.

Gençlerbirliği is also in the relegation zone. They naturally needed points as well.

We knew it would be a difficult match, but we started with a goal in the first half. We actually had the score secured; the match was effectively over at 3-0 with the goal we scored in the 60th minute, but the referees restarted the match, especially with the warning from VAR.

Then, with the goal we conceded, the score became 2-1. At that point, our opponent's appetite increased from time to time. We had thoughts of protecting the game at times. With the substitutions, we stabilized the game. We knew how to win.

We didn't give away many chances, but the one goal we conceded made both the players and us on the sidelines feel that if it became 2-2, we might concede another.

We could have carried the match more comfortably, but Gençlerbirliği put up a good fight. I would also like to congratulate Gençlerbirliği for their efforts," he said.
