Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and UEFA Europa League winners Aston Villa faced off in the Super Cup final at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.
In the 20th minute of the match, officiated by Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan, Paris Saint-Germain took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Aston Villa equalized in the 45th minute with a goal from Brian Madjo, and the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
The French side was the more effective team in the second half. In the 61st minute, meeting a ball played behind the defense by Dembele, Desire Doue entered the penalty area from the right wing and sent the ball into the net with his shot, putting PSG ahead 2-1.
As there were no further goals in the remaining minutes, Luis Enrique's side claimed the UEFA Süper Cup for the second consecutive time.
