Penalty decision against Galatasaray in Tete case

Galatasaray has announced that FIFA has imposed a fine of 2,389,776.24 Euros regarding the Tete transfer, and that if this decision is finalized at CAS, the player will be responsible for paying the fine.

Galatasaray Sports Club has made a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) regarding the conclusion of the lawsuit filed by the Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk over the transfer of Tete, whom the club added to its squad during the last summer transfer window.

In the statement made to KAP by the yellow-red club regarding the matter, it was stated: "Regarding the application made by FC Shakhtar Donetsk before FIFA against our professional football player Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins and our company, the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber decided on 11.07.2024 to partially accept the request of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, ordering that 2,389,776.24 Euros, along with 5 percent annual interest accruing from August 8, 2023, be paid by Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins to FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

In accordance with the FIFA decision, our company is jointly and severally liable with Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins for the compensation amount specified in the FIFA decision.

The right to appeal against the FIFA decision dated 11.07.2024 before the CAS is open, and the relevant FIFA decision has not yet been finalized. In the event that compensation is paid by our company, the paid compensation amount will be recourse to Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins in accordance with the agreement between the player and our company."
