Possibility of multi-year ban for Trabzonspor star following bonus crisis

Andre Onana, who played a leading role in Trabzonspor's advancement to the Ziraat Turkish Cup semi-finals and has drawn attention with his performance, is at the center of a different agenda with the Cameroon National Team. The experienced goalkeeper may face major sanctions due to a bonus dispute with the country's federation president, Samuel Eto'o.
Months ago, Onana participated in a social media program and complained that the bonuses promised to players on the national team had not been paid. Stating that no bonuses were given to the players on the Cameroon National Team, Onana drew attention with his statement: "We are not given bonuses. We are told that this money is used for the country's football, but we have doubts about where the money is being spent." These words drew the reaction of Football Federation President Samuel Eto'o, and Onana was not included in the squads for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations or the international matches held in March.
It is suggested that the disciplinary process regarding Andre Onana will be brought to the agenda at the next general assembly of the Cameroon Football Federation, and that a multi-year ban from the national team for the goalkeeper is on the table. According to the Cameroonian press, the dispute between the federation and the player could deepen further with a potential ban.
The Onana camp, however, states that they are not surprised by this possibility. A person from the experienced goalkeeper's inner circle confirmed that the federation is pursuing a new sanction, saying: "We know that the federation is preparing a sanction against Andre Onana. They want to impose a sanction on a player they have already removed from the national team. This is a maneuver that will have no effect right now because Onana is not being called up to the national team anyway. For this reason, this sanction will be a wasted blow. As long as the current administrators remain in office, I cannot even imagine his return."
