After the match, Netherlands national team captain Virgil van Dijkspoke to TRT Spor and praised Barış Alper Yılmaz.
The experienced defender said, "Even the first half was different. We started well, we had possession. Turkey sat back a bit. Then Turkey scored. The goal came from a very nice pass by Arda Güler. We stayed calm afterwards and started the second half. We worked hard, but we got the result. Barış Alper Yılmaz was running constantly. He was running in a way that was impossible to contain. It's difficult for every defender. He challenged us a lot. He didn't score, though. If we were to describe him in some way, he is truly an important player." he stated.
