Following the Turkish Football Federation's decision to refer club officials found to have placed bets in the last 5 years to the Professional Football Discipline Committee (PFDK), a statement has come from Sarıyer SK President Emre Yaldız, who was among those named.
In a post on his social media account, Yaldız stated that the coupon in question, which led to his referral, was a 5 TL bet placed via Bilyoner on June 29, 2021. The Sarıyer President emphasized that the coupon was not related to any match involving the Sarıyer Football Club.
YALDIZ: IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLUB'S MATCH
In his statement, Yaldız noted that the match in question was not played in the Turkish leagues, adding that the coupon was for the Sweden-Ukraine match within the scope of the European Championship.
Yaldız stated, "It is unacceptable that I am facing a disciplinary/penalty process from the TFF today because of a 5 TL coupon I played via Bilyoner on June 29, 2021."
Describing the fact that this record is being brought up today despite 5 years having passed as an "assassination of reputation," Yaldız argued that while football should be kept clean and the fight against betting should be supported, the nature, date, amount, and facts of the incident should also be taken into account in the evaluation.
The Sarıyer SK President commented, "Creating a penalty agenda 5 years later over a 5 TL coupon is also a major problem for Turkish football." Yaldız concluded his statement by saying, "The judgment is up to the Turkish football public..."
