Presidential candidate who challenged Ali Koç at Fenerbahçe has passed away

Fenerbahçe Sports Club has announced that Eyüp Yeşilyurt, who declared his candidacy for the presidency in the 2021 elections, has passed away. Yeşilyurt, known as a club member and whose name came to the fore in the Fenerbahçe community during the presidential process, was born in Istanbul in 1970. He was married and a father of three children.

Yeşilyurt, who could not collect the number of signatures required to become an official candidate in the presidential elections, was unable to participate in the elective congress.

In the congress held at that time, the incumbent president Ali Koç was elected president for the second time as the sole candidate.

The following statements were included in the condolence message published by the yellow-navy club:

"Our club's member with registration number 13445, Eyüp Yeşilyurt, has passed away. The funeral of the deceased will be held from Yakacık Ulu Mosque following the afternoon prayer on Monday, May 4 (Today).

We wish God's mercy upon Eyüp Yeşilyurt and offer our condolences to his relatives."
