Presidential race begins at Beşiktaş: Promises of Adalı and Aksoy

The eagerly awaited ordinary elective general assembly at Beşiktaş has begun at the Turkish Athletics Federation Ataköy Athletics Hall. Uğur Poyraz was elected as the congress council chair, and the meeting opened with a moment of silence and the National Anthem.

Incumbent president Serdal Adalı and his rival Gürkan Aksoy are competing for the presidency. In the election, 27,588 members who have paid their dues have the right to vote. The voting process will be carried out at 30 ballot boxes and will end at 17:00. The audit, disciplinary, election, and registry boards will also be determined in the election.

Serdal Adalı stated that he has made significant changes at Beşiktaş during his time in office. "We took office during the most challenging period in our history and did not focus solely on pitch results. We will make financial and sporting moves for the future of Beşiktaş," he said. Adalı emphasized that they have made radical changes in the football department and that stability must prevail in the club once again.

Gürkan Aksoy, on the other hand, argued that a fundamental change is needed in the management of Beşiktaş. "We believe that Beşiktaş should be managed in a democratic manner. We will stand against those who use the club for their personal interests," he said. Aksoy stated that fans should not only be ticket holders but also have a say in the club.

The candidates' board of directors lists have also been announced. While names such as Hakan Daltaban and Murat Kılıç are on Serdal Adalı's list, names such as Levent Önkol and Işık Dumrul are on Gürkan Aksoy's list.

As the election process continues, the Beşiktaş community is heading to the polls to determine its new president. The promises and criticisms of the presidential candidates show that they are at an important turning point for the future of the club.
