Fiorentina has been shaken by the death of club president Rocco B. Commisso. In a statement released by the club, it was stated, "With great pain and sorrow, the Commisso family announces the passing of president Rocco B. Commisso. After a long treatment process, our beloved president has left us, and today we all mourn his passing."
Commisso, an Italian-born US citizen who achieved significant success in the business world over many years, had been receiving treatment in America for some time due to health issues. Following a herniated disc and sciatica surgery in New York in October 2025, he passed away before he could return to Florence. Having served in the presidential seat for seven years, Commisso became synonymous with the club from the day he took over Fiorentina and played a major role in shaping Viola Park, where the club's facilities are located. His name will now be forever remembered at these facilities.
During his tenure at the helm of Fiorentina, the club achieved ambitious results on the international stage. The team reached the final of the UEFA Conference League in 2023 and 2024, and also reached the Coppa Italia final in 2023, bringing great excitement to its fans. However, following his treatment process, Commisso was forced to stay away from matches due to travel restrictions.
