Galatasaray's new signing Rafael Leao has signed a 4-year contract with the yellow-red club. Following the signing ceremony, the Portuguese footballer spoke to GS TV about both the transfer process and his goals.
Leao, who officially signed the contract at a ceremony attended by Club President Dursun Özbek and Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman Abdullah Kavukcu, thanked Galatasaray for the interest they showed in him.
Stating that he is excited about his arrival at the yellow-red club, Leao said, "Galatasaray has been making an effort to bring me here since June. I thank them for their interest. Galatasaray is a very big club. They were champions last year as well. I am here to be champion again. There is a very big team here. I want to contribute to that."
Touching upon the fans' welcome at the airport, the Portuguese player said, "I want to tell our fans that I want to both entertain you and contribute to the team with my goals and assists. I am very happy to be with them."
President Dursun Özbek stated that they had been working on the transfer since June and that Leao would add strength to the team. Özbek expressed his belief that the Portuguese footballer would have a significant impact, especially in UEFA Champions League matches.
Abdullah Kavukcu also emphasized that the transfer was completed after a long negotiation process. Kavukcu welcomed the new signing with the words, "Leao means lion in Portuguese. The lion has found its den and has come to Galatasaray."
