As the mid-season transfer window in Europe opened on January 1, clubs have begun their efforts to strengthen their squads. Spanish LaLiga club Real Madrid has added key names to its transfer list to bolster its defensive line. Interested in Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, Madrid is also looking to add 23-year-old Arsenal defender William Saliba to its roster for the center-back position. According to reports in the Spanish press, although Arsenal aims to keep Saliba, the French player is open to an offer from Real Madrid.

Furthermore, Real Madrid's German defender Antonio Rüdiger made comments about Saliba in October. When asked about the possibility of playing alongside Saliba in Madrid, the experienced center-back replied, "I'm not scaring anyone, but whatever he does, it's all there for everyone to see."

Saliba, who transferred to Arsenal for 30 million Euros in 2019, is under contract with the English club until 2027.

ALEXANDER-ARNOLD ALSO ON THE AGENDA

On the other hand, aiming to strengthen its right-back position, Real Madrid has taken action to sign Liverpool's English right-back Alexander-Arnold. Feeling the absence of Carvajal, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of the season, deeply, Madrid submitted an offer of approximately 20 million Pounds to Liverpool for the 26-year-old Alexander-Arnold. However, the English club rejected this offer, as it wants to hold extension talks for Arnold, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
