Red Bull unveils its new car with 'unique' footage: A historic drone shot

The Red Bull team introduced its new Formula 1 car with footage captured by the world's fastest drone. The drone, specially developed for the shoot, performed the longest continuous FPV shot in history.

The world's fastest drone, invented by the Dutch company 'Dutch Drone Gods', captured world-famous Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen. Following the Dutch star's Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 car for a full lap at the Silverstone Circuit, the drone performed the fastest continuous FPV drone shot ever made.

The Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20, the car that Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen will use in the upcoming Formula 1 season, was introduced to Formula 1 fans with the F1 One Shot project. The drone developed by the Dutch team 'Dutch Drone Gods' followed Verstappen for a full lap, giving F1 fans the chance to watch the car and Verstappen's performance up close. Ralph Hogenbirk, who piloted the drone, prepared for the shoot with numerous flight simulations to be able to follow the car for an entire lap.

Standard drones can travel at speeds of approximately 60 km/h with a battery life of about 30 minutes. To follow the RB20 continuously, the newly designed drone needed to be faster than F1 cars. For the project, a drone was developed that can travel twice as fast as an F1 car, reaching 300 km/h in just 4 seconds and capable of a top speed of over 350 km/h. The developed drone is considered the fastest and most maneuverable drone in the world.

Following the lap recorded with the drone, Max Verstappen said, "I never thought I'd see a drone go that fast just for camera shots. I didn't know it was following me while I was driving on the wet track, and it was very close to me in some places. I was really surprised at how fast it could keep up and how close it could get in the corners. It gives a different perspective on watching Formula 1."
