Referee Meler: Faruk Koca told me 'I will kill you'
Referee Halil Umut Meler, who was attacked following the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, stated in his testimony to the police: "Faruk Koca said to me and all my fellow referees, 'I will finish you off.' He used the words 'I will kill you' directed at me. I am filing a complaint against Koca and the other individuals. I do not wish to reach a settlement."

The statement of Referee Meler, who was subjected to an attack by the president of the yellow-navy club, Faruk Koca, and several other individuals following the match held yesterday evening in the Süper Lig, was taken at the Acıbadem Ankara Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
In his statement to the police, Halil Umut Meler recalled that he was the head referee for the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor football match played at Eryaman Stadium yesterday at 20:00. Explaining that after the final whistle, MKE Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca and two people with him entered the pitch and came to the center circle, Meler stated the following:

"Faruk Koca punched me under my left eye, and I fell to the ground. While I was on the ground, all the individuals kicked me in the face and other parts of my body many times. Faruk Koca said to me and all my fellow referees, 'I will finish you off.' He said to me, 'I will kill you.' I am filing a complaint and pressing charges against Faruk Koca and the other individuals who attacked me. I do not want to settle. This is all I have to say."
