ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, former MKE Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca and suspects Ş.Y.Ş. and K.Ç. were arrested on charges of "injuring a public official in a sports area in a way that causes a fracture due to the public duty they performed" after their statements were taken, and were subsequently sent to the Sincan Closed Penal Execution Institution.

It was learned that in his initial statement, Faruk Koca did not accept the accusations against him, offering the defense: "This incident developed due to the referee's incorrect decisions and provocative behavior. My intention was to show a verbal reaction to the referee and spit in his face; during this, I slapped the referee in the face. The slap I threw would not cause a fracture. After the slap I threw, the referee stood for about 5-10 seconds. Then he threw himself to the ground. Due to my heart condition, they immediately removed me from the scene. I am not aware of any other events that took place outside of this."
Koca did not accept the allegation that he threatened the referees by saying "I will finish you" when they came onto the pitch.
Referee Halil Umut Meler, who was attacked, was discharged from the hospital where he was being treated yesterday and went to his family in İzmir.
