Resignation statement from İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu! Ahmet Çakar is his target

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, in a statement he made after the Paraguay defeat, stated that the criticisms directed at the National Team had crossed the line and called on Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek to make legal regulations regarding comments containing insults. Hacıosmanoğlu had used the following expressions: “He was appointed to the Ministry of Justice with the approval of our President, and I believe he will provide superior services to this country. But of course, we will comment, we will write, we will draw, but we will not cross the boundaries of morality. My special request from him is to look at all the examples in the world; in which country of the world does such a disgrace exist? I believe that a legal regulation regarding this needs to be made urgently.”

"WHY SHOULD I RESIGN?"

TFF President Hacıosmanoğlu broke his silence after his remarks that caused controversy in public opinion. Speaking to journalist Bahar Feyzan, Hacıosmanoğlu answered the question ‘Will you resign?’ by saying, “Why should I resign? Am I a club president, am I a coach? There is still a lot of work to be done. These children are 19-20 years old. Let them continue to criticize. I apologized 50 times.”

AHMET ÇAKAR IS HIS TARGET

Upon being reminded of his call to Akın Gürlek, Hacıosmanoğlu said the following:

“Ahmet Çakar said ‘not our children, but someone else's children.’ These children have families. Normally, I could have said, ‘I did my best, I am not in a state to go out on the field.’ That would have been irresponsibility. I put myself out there. Let them attack me, leave the children alone. If I were a cunning person, I would say, ‘What do I care, I did my best.’”

Claiming that the National Team played well in both matches, Hacıosmanoğlu said, “The opponents did not crush us to win. If that were the case, there would be nothing to say. We had 80 percent ball possession. Do you know what this means? There are very malicious people. They attacked the children in the very first match. For the first time in its history, they reached the UEFA elite league. We were playing against neighborhood-level countries, now in September we will play against France, Belgium, and England. Who brought them out? These children brought them out.

I cried from anger for 2 days and 2 nights until morning. Both matches went down in football history. You take 65 shots, you play 80 percent of the game. 4 of your balls hit the post. One of them doesn't go in. If one of those 65 shots had gone in, we would have continued on our way when we beat the USA.

I had a file prepared for the one who said ‘someone else's child’ (Ahmet Çakar). I will file a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.”
