Rıdvan Dilmen mocks Mourinho: 'If they sign him, Fenerbahçe will play for the title'

Fenerbahçe hosted Spanish side Athletic Bilbao at home in the 6th week of the UEFA Europa League.

The Yellow-Navies left the pitch with a 2-0 defeat.

Athletic Bilbao took a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute with a goal from Inaki Williams, following a position created by a mistake from Samet Akaydin. Williams appeared on the scene again in the 45th minute to bring the score to 2-0.

Fenerbahçe fans whistled at Samet Akaydin throughout the match, while also calling for Ali Koç to resign and chanting in favor of former president Aziz Yıldırım.

With this result, Fenerbahçe remained at 8 points in the UEFA Europa League, placing 15th with a game in hand.

Famous commentator Rıdvan Dilmen evaluated the Athletic Bilbao match, which Fenerbahçe lost 2-0, on HT Spor.

Stating that Fenerbahçe's biggest problem is the inability to transition from the first zone to the second zone, Rıdvan Dilmen said, "You have no chance of making that transition with these players."

Expressing that the protest by Fenerbahçe fans is very natural, Dilmen stated, "The major mistakes made together by the Fenerbahçe management and Jose Mourinho have deeply shaken the community."

Emphasizing that the management should take action regarding İrfan Can Kahveci, Rıdvan Dilmen said, "Last year's star İrfan Can Kahveci is nowhere to be found this season. Wouldn't a manager ask, 'Coach, okay, but what about this İrfan Can... You must have watched him, did you only watch our Konya match?'"

Emphasizing that not choosing İrfan Can is a serious mistake by both the manager and the management, the famous commentator said, "The management won't say 'Play him,' but I think consultations definitely need to be handled. I am saying this before it is too late for the league."

Rıdvan Dilmen stated that he sees a high probability of Fenerbahçe entering a recovery process in the league if they fix their mindset.

Touching upon Fenerbahçe's transfer agenda for January, Rıdvan Dilmen pointed to two areas and said:

"Transfers are needed during the mid-season break to address the deficiencies. I think it is absolutely essential to sign a center-back and a right-footed number eight."

Ironically offering a transfer suggestion to Fenerbahçe, Rıdvan Dilmen concluded his words by saying, "There is one more player; if he signs him, they will be contenders in the title race. Let me recommend him: İrfan Can Kahveci. If he signs him, Fenerbahçe will play for the title."
