Sakaryaspor: 'We will close the gap with the top'

In Sakaryaspor, which defeated Kocaelispor 3-1 at home in the 17th week of the Trendyol 1st League, technical director Turgay Karslı stated that they want to see themselves at the top by the end of the season.

Karslı noted at the press conference held after the match that they will go through a training camp process with the players who will join the team during the mid-season break.

Stating that they are approaching where they want to be in the league, Karslı expressed that with the players who will contribute during the break, the end of the season will be good.

"We want to see ourselves at the top at the end of the league. We need to approach the points gap with the team at the very top realistically," said Karslı. "It is important where our positions in second or third will be and how we will evaluate that. We will go to the absolute limit we can reach; as the opponent at the top loses points, we will try to close that gap. Otherwise, mathematical calculations are now outside our minds. Let's play good football. Let there be scores that can be remembered, let a memory be left, and let another championship be experienced," he stated.

Karslı mentioned that they were aware of Kocaelispor's transition game and noted that they took the necessary precautions in the second half of the match.

Karslı wished God's mercy upon the soldiers who were martyred in the clash between security forces and terrorists attempting to infiltrate a base area in the Claw-Lock Operation region in northern Iraq, and extended his condolences to their families and the entire country.
