Experienced Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla has announced that he has ended his professional career. Cazorla, who wore the jersey of his childhood club Real Oviedo in the final days of his career, bid farewell to his fans and football by publishing an emotional message on his social media account.
The experienced footballer included the following words in his Instagram post:
"I have experienced wonderful things. I have overcome unexpected and difficult situations. But I never stopped trying. And in the end, I returned not to close any chapter, but to relive them. To remember why I started, and now, when everything fades away, when the boots are hung up and the noise turns to silence, everything falls into place. It ended where it began, at home, where the magic started. Because some stories do not end; they remain forever. Just like 8, just like infinity."
During his active football career, Santi Cazorla played for Villarreal, Malaga, Arsenal, and the Qatari team Al-Sadd. He experienced European Championship victories with the Spanish National Team in 2008 and 2012. In the final year of his career, the experienced player also contributed to Real Oviedo's success in rising to the top of the league. Cazorla's announcement that he is retiring from football has caused a great stir both in Spain and in world football.
