Saudi Arabia's 'imported referee' move: Halil Umut Meler to officiate!

FIFA-licensed referee Halil Umut Meler will officiate the Pro League Week 9 match between Al Okhdood and Al Hilal tomorrow, following a special invitation from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and approval from the Central Refereeing Board.

The following statement was made regarding the matter on the official website of the Turkish Football Federation:

"Our FIFA-licensed referee Halil Umut Meler will officiate the Pro League Week 9 match between Al Okhdood and Al Hilal, which will be played on Saturday, October 7, 2023, following a special invitation from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and approval from the Central Refereeing Board. Mustafa Emre Eyisoy and Kerem Ersoy will assist Halil Umut Meler in the match, which will start at 18:00 at Prince Hathloul Bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in the city of Najran, Saudi Arabia."
