In the 109th minute of extra time, Araujo from Sporting CP received a red card, leaving his team with 10 men. Increasing the pressure as their opponent was reduced to ten, Torreense brought the score to 2-1 with a penalty goal from Santos Tavares in the 113th minute.

Not allowing any breakthroughs from Sporting CP in the limited time remaining and managing to protect their score advantage, second-tier team Torreense reached the cup with the final whistle.
