In the 3rd week match of the Ziraat Turkish Cup Group A, Trabzonspor defeated Çaykur Rizespor 5-2 at home and advanced to the quarterfinals. Trabzonspor manager Şenol Güneş made statements at the press conference held after the match.

Stating that Çaykur Rizespor is a good team, Güneş said, "They also have a good coach. They played good football. They had won in the league last week. Our players got through a difficult match easily with their game discipline, desire to win, and appetite to play together. Their concentration was at a high level.
