Sergen Yalçın: Our only thought is to win the cup

In the Ziraat Turkish Cup quarter-finals, Beşiktaş defeated Corendon Alanyaspor 3-0 at home to secure their place in the semi-finals.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Beşiktaş manager Sergen Yalçın said, "The cup is the most important goal for us. Our only thought is to win the cup. Although some parts of the game were difficult today, my players showed a good reaction. We had our chances. It looks like a comfortable victory. We are satisfied with tonight. We will look at what comes next. Hopefully, we can continue our path in the cup and give our fans and our community a happy day in what has been a difficult season."

The 53-year-old manager also described the elimination of Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe from the cup as a surprise, stating, "We did not expect them to be eliminated. Football is a very difficult game. You have to do the job right on the pitch, fight, play aggressively, and win. It is a game very open to surprises."

"We want to play for the title next year"

Emphasizing that they want to provide some relief to both the fans and the community by winning the Turkish Cup, Yalçın said, "We have won this cup before. It won't be the first time. The Beşiktaş community has been winning these cups for years. Winning these cups does not create stress for anyone. But we have been having a troubled season since we started the job. I have had to deal with problems in every aspect.

My job should only be on the pitch, but it is not easy to solve the problems that have been going on for 5 years. We are dealing with many issues. We are slowly reaching the solution stage. I had said that we need 2-3 transfer windows. When you are unsuccessful, you don't have the time to fix these things. I think winning a Turkish Cup here will relieve our community to some extent and buy us time.

A difficult summer awaits us. A new squad construction, a change will take place. We want to play for the title next year. We are making our plans accordingly. Our fans should have a little more patience and stay involved in the process to support the team. It won't always be good days; sometimes there will be bad days. We want to feel the fans behind us on bad days," he said.
