Sergen Yalçın rebels: We've been through everything in the last two matches

In the final week of the Trendyol Super League, Beşiktaş drew 2-2 away against Çaykur Rizespor.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Beşiktaş manager Sergen Yalçın made remarks. Noting that they displayed a performance in the first half that showed they were not even aware they were playing a match, Yalçın said, "We played a very poor first half. We weren't even aware that we were playing a match, mentally speaking, and the first half was very difficult. We had to wake the players up in the second half. We started with three substitutions. The second half was better for us. The boys fought to turn it around. It's a 2-2 score. But I can say it was a good match, in my opinion."

Expressing that he was embarrassed by the fans' resignation protests, Yalçın said, "We had a very serious goal in the cup. We wanted to play in the final, but we couldn't manage it. In the last two matches, the players, of course, with the fan protests and reactions—these are very young kids, and it's a bit hard for them to handle that. We had a very hard time concentrating them on the last two matches. We are included in this as well. We had to play under very serious protests and fan pressure. When I heard the resignation chants, I was honestly a bit embarrassed while sitting on the bench, I must say. Because, character-wise, I don't have the structure to handle such things.

I was very sad, but the game we play is unfortunately open to such results. I mean, all sorts of things can happen to a person. When there is no goal, or when you cannot reach the goal, especially if you are working in a big community, the consequences are very heavy. We faced these results today and last week. We also faced the protests. That's why we are sad. The situation in the final part was unexpected. The chaotic environment after the Konyaspor match, the protests, and the decline of the community did not seem very healthy to me.

Looking from my side, I don't think there was a situation that warranted such chaos. Because there were no very serious goals set at the beginning of the season anyway. There was long-term planning. I tried to explain these very clearly during the time I was here. But unfortunately, when there is failure—and the criteria for failure are also very debatable. I mean, the criteria for success and failure are very debatable.
