Social media post from Gözde Kahveci, wife of Fenerbahçe's İrfan Can Kahveci, regarding İmamoğlu

Gözde Kahveci, wife of Fenerbahçe star İrfan Can Kahveci, made a post regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been taken into custody.

In her post, Gözde Kahveci emphasized the "rule of law" and "fair trial."

"They say: 'Are you sure İmamoğlu is innocent? I cannot know that. There are people whose job this is. A trial is held, if he is guilty it is determined, and he receives his punishment.'

But I say: 'Are you sure you will be tried fairly?'

I add to it: 'Do you think your problem is more important for the country or mine?'

Everyone should ask themselves these two questions. I don't know how many times I have written this since yesterday.

The issue is not whether Ekrem İmamoğlu is guilty or innocent; the issue is the provision and protection of the independence and supremacy of the law.

Defending Ekrem İmamoğlu is the job of his lawyers. Defending the rule of law is the job of all of us."
