Spectator ban for Athena's Gökhan: He had said, 'I will not respect Galatasaray'

Gökhan Özoğuz, the lead singer of the band Athena, had drawn attention last year with his comments regarding the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe rivalry following a concert.

Gökhan Özoğuz had reacted to the yellow-red community with his statement regarding Galatasaray, saying, "I will not respect a team that has become a tool for politics."

Following these remarks, it was reported that the Galatasaray management filed a complaint.

Today, while on his way to watch the derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe from the stands, Özoğuz learned that he had received a spectator ban under Law No. 6222 as a result of the complaint filed by the Galatasaray Sports Club.

 

In a statement on his social media account, Özoğuz said, "When I arrived today to board the away bus in front of the Fenerbahçe Club, I learned that I would not be able to listen to the chants about my name because a 6222 decision had been issued against me. I thank those who enforced this decision; it is a medal of honor for me! I will continue to tell the truth, defend rights, and defend my team's rights at all times and under all conditions. I am a Fenerbahçe fan, and I want rights, law, and justice."

It was learned that Gökhan Özoğuz, who received the spectator ban, is required to go to the police station to sign in during the match since he cannot attend. Özoğuz has filed an appeal through his lawyer to have the decision overturned.
