Fatih Özkan, a Göztepe executive who attacked Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç during the match between Göztepe and Fenerbahçe that ended in a 2-2 draw yesterday in the 2nd week of the Süper Lig, has been placed under house arrest.

'NEVER ACCEPTABLE'

The following was stated in the announcement made by Göztepe:

"During the league match played against Fenerbahçe at our stadium yesterday, the unauthorized entry into areas where only accredited persons are allowed – despite all warnings from our CEO Kerem Ertan – while the match was ongoing and in a manner that would provoke our fans, is never acceptable.

We leave it to the public's discretion to consider the potential consequences if such an action were to take place at Fenerbahçe's stadium or the stadium of any other club.

We state that we absolutely do not approve of these scenes that occurred on the pitch, which have nothing to do with football; we respectfully inform the sports public that we will take all legal steps to ensure that those responsible for this act, which clearly constitutes a crime under Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports, receive the necessary punishment and that we will follow the matter closely."
