A statement has been issued by Samsunspor, which was penalized by FIFA with a two-window transfer ban, regarding the matter.
In the statement made by the club, it was stated: "To the attention of the Samsunspor community, our valued Samsunspor fans, and the Turkish football public; it has become necessary for us to make this statement regarding the FIFA decision sent to our club. A mutual agreement had been reached with our former player Arvydas Novikovas and his lawyer prior to the FIFA decision, but an oversight occurred on the part of the other party regarding informing FIFA about the relevant agreement. For this reason, despite our mutual agreement and our payment of the full amount to the other party within the commitment period, FIFA ruled against us and, in bad faith, rejected our application, imposing a two-window transfer ban on our club. The transfer ban in question covers the 2023-2024 football season winter transfer window and the 2024-2025 football season summer transfer window."
The statement continued with the following remarks:
"Regarding the correction of this erroneous decision, our legal initiatives before the CAS were launched at the beginning of August, and all legal efforts are being meticulously carried out by our FIFA and CAS lawyers in Switzerland to lift the relevant transfer ban. Many precedent decisions where similar unfair penalties were overturned by the CAS are being evaluated by our legal team, and it is observed that they have resulted in favor of the clubs. We have full faith that the decision to be reached by the end of December 2023 will be in our favor. Our club will continue to inform the public regarding this entire process."
