Striking Mourinho confession from Okan Buruk

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk made remarkable statements about former Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool. He stated that Mourinho physically intervened with him following their 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Cup quarter-final match played in Kadıköy last season.

In an interview with The Athletic, Okan Buruk recounted the moment with a touch of humor, saying, "I was like a player, I fell to the ground!" He added, "I exaggerated a bit. I wasn't expecting something like that from him. I was shaking hands with the referees, celebrating our victory, and he came up to me. Normally, we would meet to shake hands after the match."

Touching upon the difficulty of competing against Mourinho, Buruk said, "When he signed for Fenerbahçe, he started talking a lot. We know his style. He wants to play not just on the pitch, but off it as well. He tried many things, but in the end, we were better than him. We won the championship against him and beat them twice on their own ground."

Okan Buruk stated that he aims to work abroad in his career, noting that the Premier League could be a great challenge for him. "Being in the Champions League this year is very important for both my career and Galatasaray. I want to work outside of Turkey. The Premier League is a great competition and challenge for managers," he said.

Finally, expressing his hope to achieve more success at Galatasaray, Buruk concluded his words by saying, "Being the Galatasaray manager and winning championships is the most important thing. I joined the Galatasaray youth academy when I was 11, and now I am 51, and I am managing Galatasaray. This is my team. If I continue like this, I hope we will break more records."
