Striking remarks from Ergin Ataman ahead of the Final Four

Panathinaikos Head Coach Ergin Ataman made significant remarks at the press conference held ahead of the EuroLeague Final Four.

When asked whether he would repeat his success as the only Turkish coach to win the EuroLeague twice in a row, Ataman replied, "What is important for me is not winning back-to-back, but being in three of the last four Final Fours. We are here to defend the championship title we won last year."

Emphasizing that the EuroLeague has better competition than the NBA, Ergin Ataman said, "The basketball played in the EuroLeague is much better compared to the NBA. In Europe, it is not the NBA that is followed, but the EuroLeague. However, predicting what will happen in the future is not my job."

Stating that they are focused on the Fenerbahçe Beko match, Ataman said, "During my time in Athens, I played many games against Olympiacos. But right now, I am thinking about Fenerbahçe." Noting that his team is ready, Ataman added, "I am not looking at the past; my team is ready now, and I am sure that we will be EuroLeague champions once again."

Finally, Ataman stated that winning consecutive championships is not important to him, but that he is proud to have won in the last three Final Fours he participated in. He concluded his remarks by saying, "We are here to defend the title we won last year."
