Suffered a heart attack while waiting to be discharged: Mircea Lucescu moved to intensive care

Mircea Lucescu, who experienced health problems at the end of the World Cup play-off semi-final where the Turkish National Football Team faced Romania, was hospitalized in recent days. The 80-year-old coach, who suffered a heart attack just hours before he was due to be discharged, was resuscitated three times within minutes through emergency intervention.

Lucescu's condition, which initially improved, remained stable on Friday and Saturday. However, due to his health conditions unexpectedly worsening on Sunday morning, the experienced football figure was transferred back to the intensive care unit.

In an official statement made by the Bucharest University Hospital, it was stated: "On Saturday evening, the patient experienced significant heart rhythm disturbances, and this situation was immediately treated by the cardiology department's on-duty team. On Sunday night, the rhythm disturbances intensified and did not respond to treatment. The patient's condition worsened. He had to be transferred to the intensive care unit. There are no new developments at this time. If the situation requires, we will inform the public again."

Mircea Lucescu, one of the respected names in Romanian football, had fallen ill following the critical match played between Turkey and Romania in recent weeks.
