Former A National Team captain Arda Turan issued a statement of support for the national players following the 3-0 defeat against Portugal at EURO 2024.

In a post on his Instagram account, Turan expressed his support for team captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu and stated that he was proud of the players, saying:
"I love you all very much. I am proud of you, of each and every one of you. I support you unconditionally, without any 'buts,' until the end. You are in a magnificent position. And you, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, you gave your greatest performance for me the moment you chose to wear the Turkish national team jersey. I'm so glad you are our captain! If you invite me to the semi-finals, I would love to be there."
