The Turkish Football Federation Board of Directors has decided to name the 2026-2027 season after Adnan Süvari, as part of its practice of naming Süper Lig seasons to honor the memory of coaches and former national players who have made unforgettable contributions to Turkish football.

Adnan Süvari, who began his coaching career at Karşıyaka Sports Club, later achieved successes that went down in the history of Turkish football during his tenure at Göztepe. Süvari led the yellow-and-red team to the semi-finals of the UEFA Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in the 1968-1969 season and to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in the 1969-1970 season. Thus, he went down in history as the first coach to lead a Turkish club to a semi-final in European competitions.
