TFF denies: 'The project and authority to play the Super Cup abroad belong to the TFF'

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has denied reports claiming that the idea to play the Super Cup match in Saudi Arabia belonged to Ali Koç.

The statement declared, "The project and authority to play the Super Cup abroad belong to the TFF."

"HAS NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER"

The following statements were included in the TFF's announcement:

"Regarding the Turkcell Super Cup match, for which we previously announced that it would be played on December 29, 2023, at the Al-Awwal Park (King Saud University) Stadium in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, at 20:45 Turkish time, and would be broadcast live on ATV, one of the channels of our broadcaster Turkuvaz Media Group, and for which the organizational authority belongs to our Federation: the claim in an article on a website titled 'Was the final in Saudi Arabia Ali Koç's idea?' that the idea of playing the match in Saudi Arabia belonged to Mr. Ali Koç has no connection whatsoever to the truth.

"As the TFF, we have previously stated that we are working on very important projects to strengthen the economy of Turkish football and create alternative revenue sources for our clubs. With this vision, we would like to underline and reiterate that the project and authority to play the Turkcell Super Cup abroad for the purpose of generating revenue for our clubs belong to the Turkish Football Federation. We once again kindly request that no statements other than the official ones made by our Federation regarding this matter be given any credence."
