TFF had cancelled it: A move on the broadcasting tender from beIN Sports! 'They scrambled to give it to Qatar...'

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) had announced that it was cancelling the broadcasting tender because it found the bids insufficient and that the deadline for receiving bids had been extended.

Following the TFF's statement, a new development has occurred in the broadcasting tender. It has been suggested that the new broadcaster of the Süper Lig for the next 3 years will be the current broadcaster, beIN Sports.

BEIN MEDIA EXCEEDED THE THRESHOLD BID

According to the report by Yağız Sabuncuoğlu from Sports Digitale, beIN Sports exceeded the 150 million Euro threshold targeted by the TFF and the Union of Clubs with its latest bid. Stating that "beIN Sports is set to be the new broadcaster of the Süper Lig," Sabuncuoğlu indicated that the deal is now awaiting signatures.

Sabuncuoğlu's post is as follows;

"beIN Sports has exceeded the 150 million euro threshold, which was the figure targeted by the TFF and the Union of Clubs at the start of the tender, with its latest bid. beIN Sports is set to be the new broadcaster of the Süper Lig! The matter is left to official signatures."

TFF HAD ANNOUNCED IT CANCELLED THE TENDER

In a previous statement made by the federation, it was noted that a recommendation for the cancellation of the tender was made by the Broadcasting Tender Commission due to the bid amounts being found insufficient, and the following statements were used:

"The recommendation for the cancellation of the tender, made by the Broadcasting Tender Commission on the grounds that it found the incoming bids insufficient, has been evaluated by the TFF Board of Directors, and the broadcasting tender has been cancelled accordingly. In accordance with the decision taken by the TFF Board of Directors, and provided that the estimated value of the broadcasting tender and other criteria determined in line with the recommendations of the Broadcasting Tender Commission are met, all interested parties have been given until 13.00 on Saturday, March 2, to submit their bids regarding the transfer of the broadcasting rights for the Süper Lig and the 1st League."
